Year Two // Ministry Residency
For graduates of Year One who are recommended to continue, our residency program offers immersive, hands-on leadership training in real ministry environments.
This track includes four core components designed to develop students spiritually, academically, and practically.
1. Ministry Residency
This practicum-style residency places students in a leadership role, serving a minimum of 15 hours per week. Each student is matched with an experienced staff mentor in their chosen field and will engage in real-time ministry leadership and service.
Ministry Focus Areas:
Youth Ministry
Kids Ministry
Worship Leadership
Production & Media
Campus Pastoring
Church Planting
Non-Profit & Community Outreach
2. Ongoing Education
APLA partners with Southeastern University (SEU) to provide regionally accredited, college-level courses hosted online.
3. Weekly Leadership Training
Students participate in a one-hour weekly class led by an experienced ministry leader. These sessions are designed to equip students with practical ministry skills and spiritual insight.
Additionally, students will:
Read and discuss four key leadership books
Engage in weekly conversations with the school director and peers to deepen understanding and application
4. Mission Trip Leadership
All second-year students will attend the annual APLA mission trip, where they’ll serve as part of the leadership team. This is an opportunity to apply their training in a global setting, contribute to the mission of the church, and grow in cross-cultural ministry.
