This is a one-year leadership experience built inside a real church. You are not sitting on the sidelines. You are stepping into ministry while you learn, serve, and grow.

Classes run Tuesday through Friday, 8:15 AM to 12:15 PM

Each morning includes teaching, prayer, and practical ministry. The rest of the week stays open so you can work, serve, and stay engaged in everyday life.

What You Will Actually Do

Classroom Training

Build a strong foundation in Scripture, leadership, and ministry. Courses are taught by pastors and leaders who are actively serving.

Prayer School

Start each day with prayer and worship. Learn to build a real daily walk with God, one that brings authority and consistency in ministry.

Hands-On Ministry

Serve consistently in real environments. Gain experience by doing the work, through street evangelism, church outreaches, campus ministry, and more.

Church Integration

Be part of Allison Park Church, a thriving and growing church. Learn from pastors and leaders who are actively in ministry, not just teaching it.

What You Will Study

Courses are taught in a seminar format, with one focused theme each week, led by an expert in that area. You will build a foundation in:

  • Biblical understanding and worldview

  • Theology and doctrine

  • Leadership and communication

  • Ministry practice and the gifts of the Spirit

  • Living a life of faith and spiritual authority

Credentialing

After completing year one, students can pursue ministry credentials with the Assemblies of God through the PennDel Ministry Network. This creates a clear, direct path into pastoral ministry, faster than traditional routes.

Ministry Residency

For those who continue after graduating APLA, the focus shifts to hands-on leadership.

You will step into a specific ministry role, serve at least 15 hours per week, and be mentored directly by experienced leaders.

  • Youth ministry

  • Worship

  • Production

  • Outreach

  • And more - depending on your calling

Where Will I Live?

For out-of-town students, there are two options:

  • We can connect you with other students to rent an apartment together for nine months.

  • At times, we are able to place you with a host family for the year.

Life in Pittsburgh

You will spend the year in Pittsburgh, connected to a strong church community while still living a normal, active life. There is space to work, build relationships, and stay engaged outside of class.

Ready to Take the Next Step?

You’ll leave with clarity and a real next step. You’ll have already stepped into ministry and know how to move forward with confidence.
